Holiday Recipe

It was appripos that my holiday recipe submission to They Draw & Cook was posted on Christmas Day.   The layout features Santa on two wheels, of course.  The recipe is a supercharged version of the simple peanut butter cookie.  The addition of chipotle powder, bourbon and turbinado sugar elevates this treat from street worthy to racetrack ready.  The recipe layout did double duty when I featured it in this year's holiday card.  Certainly there is nothing wrong with leftovers in this busy season.

The image above is a mock up of our 2010 holiday card showing the front/back and inside.  For a look at the TDAC recipe submission, click here.

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas.  Cards are piled high on the kitchen table and glitter and glue abound.  Luckily the printer did not jam and the ink did not run out so it looks like the deadline will be met.  Every year you ask yourself why you make homemade cards, and then someone tells you how they look forward to receiving them and that they have saved every one.  So you do it all again the following year.

Here's an oldie but goody from 1999 featuring our big B riding with Santa on a 1964 panhead.

They Draw & Cook

A friend introduced me to TheyDrawandCook.com this summer.  It is a delightful site that features illustrated recipes by artists from around the world.  Challenged to participate just before a deadline, I modified and recycled the Servicar drawing for my Kick Start Calico Bean Salad recipe.  While delighted that my submission was posted, I am also humbled by the level of talent that can be found here.  If you enjoy globetrotting, food and art, check out They Draw and Cook.

Last year we added a new member to the family, so of course our Holiday card had to introduce him.  Our spunky new canine is depicted popping out of the Servicar trunk.  Of course K the cat is both intrigued and annoyed, as in real life.  Recently I recycled this bike illustration in a recipe layout for the website TheyDrawandCook.com.  But that is another blog post.

Ride safe.
